It had to happen, big stores trying to chew up and regurgitate DIY projects right into the public’s hungry little mouth. It’s almost insulting to the creative thinker and maker.
Nothing against Urban Outfitters “per se” , however, as a DIY-er it is a tad bit pathetic that they’re selling tye die and sock monkey kits.
Every bona fide DIY-er knows that’s not how you do it. You create it from scratch, that’s what makes it so special. Now for the upholstered slipper chairs–get the look by taking a smaller side chair, go to Hancock Fabrics to buy that exact knock off of IKAT fabric or buy a unique IKAT print on ebay and reupholster it yourself. Every Goodwill I’ve ever gone to has equal, if not better, pieces of ceramics for as little as $1.99 each. Selling a pencil can, are you kidding me?
Warning: Do NOT let corporate marketing take over and spoon feed you their version of DIY for your shopping convenience. The whole point of doing it yourself is, well, DOING IT YOURSELF.
