Before you turn away from these painted black window or door frames. (I can’t tell what they are) look again. Two years ago, I would have shuddered at the thought of painted black frames. However, I’ve been struggling with this blasted three panel sliding door long enough. Something’s gotta give.
When you walk through our front door, you see straight through the dining room and right out into the porch, then the back yard (pool, patio area). If it was a lush, artfully landscaped back yard, that would be one thing. However, it’s pretty much a giant concrete slab with a money pit of an outdated, in ground pool smack dab in the middle. Not so pretty. And what’s worse is that the frames around the porch windows are an old worn bronze-y metal looking mess. Besides all of that, the porch needs its very own makeover. That’s another issue.
I find myself loving the fresh, clean look of painted black frames against white walls. It feels serene, orderly and clean.
Black and white may throw Mr. Mod into a seizure. If he had his way, he’d decorate like an outdated Holiday Inn. I love him, but I’m just sayin’.
One way to slide this idea right on through is tame it down a bit and paint the frames a dark gray. Granted, gray is a bit overdone right now, but remember, I’m changing out most of my gray walls to a crisp, fresh designer white. Now, imagine painted gray window frames against a nice soft white. Uh huh!!
The other troublesome sliding door is right there in our kitchen. The sliding door, again, framed by some nondescript metal color, looks right out in a greenhouse. Puhleese! Do you even think we keep that greenhouse looking vibrant and colorful? I tell you what, if I had my way, we’d knock the greenhouse down and turn that into a nice little sun room. However, that’s not the project du jour, so back to the project at hand. Achhhh! What can I do with this?
