New Classes and Workshops are in the Oven

You should just shoot me. I’ve been the worst blogger ever!! It’s not like I don’t add my two cents worth, it’s just that I do it so much more briefly on Upholstery Club and ModHomeEc, both on FB.  There’s no real benefit to that, I’m not building content that will get me anywhere, it’s just so flippin’ quick and easy.

Well, anyway, classes are booming, my shop is busy and right now it’s getting all spruced up for an event next week. Things are getting more organized all the time with the help of my intern, Greg, and my former student, Erika. Jeesh, it’s so much easier with a little help.

Other than a June Bootcamp, a pallet ottoman class and some much sought after boxed and corded cushion classes, I’ll have some workshops, and one more Beginning Upholstery class before I depart for Wales. Remember, when I get back, I’ll be able to teach some mad spring tying, hession (burlap) sculpting and horsehair teasing.  I can hardly “hold a thought” (Morgan Freeman’s line in The Shawshank Redemption). Being gone the month of July is bittersweet. It will be my biggest adventure ever, but July is my favorite month to be right here at home.

Now, the other exciting thing is that ModHomeEc is continuing to add other home furnishing classes which are being taught by exceptional teachers. I’m not just saying that. My dad used to say to always work for the best and hire the best. These ladies are at the top of their game, and I’m happy scooch over and let them teach their thing. Amy’s sewing classes have begun and will be expanding, Cate is teaching her first SOLD OUT Water Color and Wine class next Tuesday night, I’m having a big free event on May 9th–The Furniture Repair Shindig which is the prequel to a Furniture Repair Workshop we’ll have in June. We’re adding classes in sewing leather, making lamps/chandeliers and mod clock making. Have I said lately how much I love my job? Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, I realized that opening things up to expert instructors in different specialties gives you so many interesting things to learn how to do. And honestly, is there anything more satisfying than learning a new skill?
